Two Month Letter to My Girl

28 Mar

Sweet Kensi Girl-

TWO months already. It is hard to believe how fast time has FLOWN by.
You grow sweeter and sweeter each day. With each coo you make- my heart melts. It’s amazing and hard to believe how fast you have grown and how much you change daily.
You have so much more personality now. You are so, so, so alert when you are awake, although you still sleep all the time.

(please mom. no more pictures.  I’m just trying to sleep)

Your cheeks are getting chubbier and cuter- I just want to plant my lips on them 24/7. I can help but stare at you all day long. You are just so beautiful.

Your head and neck muscles are increasing in strength each day. Pretty soon, you’ll be sitting up in your bumbo by yourself.
IMG_4371
You are getting better at sleeping through the night. Although, sometimes you still confuse us. You will sleep from 9-5 one night or 11-4 the next. Oh babies and sleep schedules….TOO confusing!
We have traveled a lot together. You’ve gone to cheer Savannah on at soccer games, traveled out to eat, and enjoyed shopping at the Williamsburg outlets!

(being burped by daddy at your first soccer game)
For your first Easter the weather was definitely NOT spring like. Mid 50’s and drizzly- but we still tried to get a family photo shoot in.

(thank you Timmy for the family photo bomb……)!
You also visited the Easter bunny at the Bass Pro Shops- you were awake and I think you enjoyed how snuggly she was. Easter bunny

Mommy tries really hard to not hold you all day long and get housework done….but it is just too hard to put you down sometimes.
You’ve outgrown preemie clothes and are finally fitting perfectly into newborn sized clothing.
Your faces. OH YOUR FACES.  You’re the most expressive baby I have seen.  Ever.
IMG_4110
and….you love Starbucks. duh.

Look at how much I’ve grown!

One Month Letter to My Girl

28 Feb

My dear Kensi girl,

It is hard to believe that is has already been ONE MONTH since you’ve arrived.  Although it has only been 31 days, your daddy and I can not imagine what our lives were like before God blessed us with you. You given us more happiness than we ever could have even began imagined.

You were a tiny little thing when you were born, only 5 pounds and 9 1/2 ounces, but have filled our hearts. Since you were born, I’m not sure I have slept more than 3 hours straight and I wouldn’t change it for anything! In our middle of the night feedings, amidst the sheer exhaustion, I look down at your sweet, innocent face and it feels like all is well in the world.
IMG_3478
Your sleep schedule….we are still working on that.  In the beginning you slept ALL. THE. TIME.  I even asked friends if it was normal.  Now you seem to enjoy cat napping and laying in bed wide awake when we put you down in the evening.  The past few nights you have woken up to eat and gone back to sleep great!  Now we are working on having you sleep in longer increments….
IMG_3282

Your first bath- you HATED! You screamed the whole time until you had your head full of hair washed.  I guess you really are a girly girl! Then we snuggled you up in your hooded towel and you were MUCH happier.

We are still learning about each other. Sometimes, I’m not sure why you’re crying, but usually it is only because you’re hungry, you have a wet diaper, or you’re not getting enough snuggles! It sure is hard to put you down during the day to get things done.
You make the silliest, most hilarious faces I have ever seen. In. My. Life. I’m pretty sure you know just when mommy needs a good laugh and you’ll make me a goofy face.
IMG_3215 IMG_3366 IMG_3518

Can I just tell you what joy I have had dressing you up in pink and bows!
IMG_3533 IMG_3636
Our first furry children seem to have taken to you too. The night we brought you home, Molly refused to leave your side and her ears perked up at every squeal you made. Mia enjoys competing with you for snuggle time.
IMG_3275
You’ve met almost all of your immediate family already- from grandmas and grandpas to a great-grandma and great-grandpas!

You also have plenty of aunts and uncles that have visited with you.

37 Weeks

16 Jan

How far along? 37 Weeks (and 4 days)
Total weight gain/loss: 3.8 pounds in 9 months and 3 weeks…. I finally did it! 🙂
Maternity clothes? On and off still
Best moment this week: Finally realizing that I get to meet her in less than a MONTH! DO YOU SEE THIS COUNTDOWN ON THE RIGHT SIDE??? IT SAYS 17 DAYS!!! WHAT????!!!! It will be single digits next week.  INSANE.
Movement: NO ROOM.  It seems that she favors my right side, lots of kicking and poking.  Sometimes, usually during the evening, I feel like she is going to “fall out.”  It’s a strange/uncomfortable sensation.  Moms- anyone else experience that?
Food cravings: Banana cream pie.
Gender: Girliest of girly baby Hokie fans 🙂
Labor Signs: Between 1-2.5 cm dilated! But that could last for months…. lots of uncomfortable Braxton Hicks- they are a strange feeling too.
Stretch marks? Yep….speaking of stretch marks…convo with the husband
Me: I have stretch marks now….do you still like me just as much?
Jeff: No offense babe- but you’ve had stretch marks since I’ve known you
*crickets*
What I miss: Sushi. Not feeling like a beached whale.

What I am looking forward to: The best is yet to come 🙂
Weekly Wisdom: Always fight for what you believe in! 🙂
Milestones:  Nursery is ready! The crib has sheets on it.  The stroller is put together.  Car seat is in. Changing pad is up.  Dresser is put together…we are ready!!!

How far along? 33 Weeks (and 4 days)
Total weight gain/loss: According to the doctor’s appointment last week…I lost another 1/2 pound….I can ASSURE you come the next appointment (Jan 3rd)- I will have gained wait.  Just watch….
Maternity clothes? Well today I have on size 6 Talbot’s dress pants. WOOHOO!! However- I did buy my first “complete” maternity outfit on Tuesday…and I’m not one to brag but it is BANGIN’. C’mon- PINK JEGGINGS!!!! Here’s a peek:

Best moment this week: Finally purchased paint for the nursery- it’s a shade of gray- by Olympic- Secret Passage (Zero VOC & low odor!)
Movement: Everywhere….she sure is a looooong baby & takes up a lot of room
Food cravings: Not so much.  Instead- I can never decide what I want to eat. It’s bad…..
Gender: Still girl- guess we will know for sure in SIX weeks!!!!!
Labor Signs: NONE!
Stretch marks? Sure.  Thankful for everyone one of them!
What I miss: Having energy.  Having nice skin.  WARM WEATHER.
What I am looking forward to: Staying home from work with KAP 🙂
Weekly Wisdom: It’s slightly harder to shop ALL day when (almost) 8.5 months pregnant….so when you get tired- rest! (and then start again…..) Also- don’t forget to HYDRATE & NOURISH that baby!
Milestones:  Still wearing non-preggo pants (is that a milestone?:))

And the only reason I know you guys read this blog…pictures!

Food cravings: Food aversions? Morning sickness is BACK!! Who knew it could come back the third trimester too.  Nothing sounds good anymore…..
Gender: Female still! 🙂
Labor Signs: Not yet….but 2 more months!
Stretch marks? Stretchy…markings.  I think they’re noticeable…who knows.
What I miss: Enjoying food.  Wanting food. Sleeping comfortably.  Sleeping.  No heartburn.  Not feeling like I’d like to cry at the drop of a dime. Hellllllo hormones.
What I am looking forward to: Painting the nursery & putting together furniture!
Weekly Wisdom: Enjoy time with your spouse before baby comes- soon it will be the THREE of us, eeks!
Milestones:  My belly button is still an “innie.” Is that a milestone? Maternity pictures with the husband & dogs!
