One Month Letter to My Girl

28 Feb

My dear Kensi girl,

It is hard to believe that is has already been ONE MONTH since you’ve arrived.  Although it has only been 31 days, your daddy and I can not imagine what our lives were like before God blessed us with you. You given us more happiness than we ever could have even began imagined.

You were a tiny little thing when you were born, only 5 pounds and 9 1/2 ounces, but have filled our hearts. Since you were born, I’m not sure I have slept more than 3 hours straight and I wouldn’t change it for anything! In our middle of the night feedings, amidst the sheer exhaustion, I look down at your sweet, innocent face and it feels like all is well in the world.

Your sleep schedule….we are still working on that.  In the beginning you slept ALL. THE. TIME.  I even asked friends if it was normal.  Now you seem to enjoy cat napping and laying in bed wide awake when we put you down in the evening.  The past few nights you have woken up to eat and gone back to sleep great!  Now we are working on having you sleep in longer increments….

Your first bath- you HATED! You screamed the whole time until you had your head full of hair washed.  I guess you really are a girly girl! Then we snuggled you up in your hooded towel and you were MUCH happier.

We are still learning about each other. Sometimes, I’m not sure why you’re crying, but usually it is only because you’re hungry, you have a wet diaper, or you’re not getting enough snuggles! It sure is hard to put you down during the day to get things done.
You make the silliest, most hilarious faces I have ever seen. In. My. Life. I’m pretty sure you know just when mommy needs a good laugh and you’ll make me a goofy face.

Can I just tell you what joy I have had dressing you up in pink and bows!

Our first furry children seem to have taken to you too. The night we brought you home, Molly refused to leave your side and her ears perked up at every squeal you made. Mia enjoys competing with you for snuggle time.

You’ve met almost all of your immediate family already- from grandmas and grandpas to a great-grandma and great-grandpas!

You also have plenty of aunts and uncles that have visited with you.

I pray that you don’t grow up too fast.  It won’t be like this for long…
